  4.     For ten years, Frances Garfinkle was confined to her bed by
  5. partial blindness, hearing loss and incontinence. Her husband
  6. Harry, 78, a retired Philadelphia wallpaper hanger, endured her
  7. constant nagging. But in January, when Frances complained about
  8. a meal Harry had prepared, the strain became too much:
  9. Garfinkle strangled her with a necktie.

  11.     He pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter. Last week
  12. common pleas court judge Lisa Richette declined to send
  13. Garfinkle to prison, sentencing him to ten years' probation.
  14. "You took care of a very sick woman. It's important that you not
  15. torture yourself. Try to go along enjoying your life,"
  16. admonished Richette. Replied Garfinkle: "Thanks a million, Your
  17. Honor."
